Emergent Life Lab · preview
A live preview of Isometric Watch
Live · the real, currently-running universe
This is the real, currently-running universe, watched live, isometric - the same one Classic Watch shows. This preview camera moves on its own between real places in the world; a Lab member can pan, zoom, select any organism and open its Brain Inspector.
What you're looking at
Real islands raised above a calm, semi-infinite ocean; real forests drawn as trees; real caves; and real, currently-alive organisms - every mark on screen is the same live state Classic Watch shows, drawn as a miniature diorama instead of a flat map. Nothing here is a recorded loop or a staged scene. Neither view carries different simulation truth: both watch the same authoritative universe.
Isometric's per-unit height makes it the best place to actually see the current terrain candidate at work: ground an organism has dug down or piled up is drawn as a real step, sized to the real height difference, so excavated cuts and deposited terraces read the same way the coastline's cliffs always have. See Reshaping the world for what that terrain candidate is and is not, and How to read the world for exactly what every mark means.
What the full experience adds
Free exploration
Pan and zoom anywhere in the world yourself, rather than following this preview's own slow camera drift.
Selection & the Brain Inspector
Click any organism to select it, follow it, and open its real neural controller - senses, network, outputs and learning, channel by channel.
Ambient mode
A slow, self-driving camera between real places in the world, with the interface quieted down - for leaving the universe running in the background. An optional, very quiet environmental ambience can be switched on with it.
The Living World
Lab's other observer, and its flagship: the same universe in three dimensions, with a camera that tours it by itself and says what it has found. Isometric Watch stays the authoritative view, drawn cell by cell; the Living World is the one to leave running. Watch the trailer.
