Terms of service

General terms for using the Emergent Life website. For anything specific to a paid membership, see the membership terms.

The site

Emergent Life is a continuously running artificial-life simulation, watchable and, for the current tick's selected organism, inspectable in full by anyone, free of charge. It runs autonomously; nothing a visitor does on this site changes it.

Accounts

An Emergent Life Lab account needs only an email address. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address secure, since it is the only way to sign in. You may delete your account at any time.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt the site, bypass its security or rate limits, access another account's data, or use automated tools against it beyond normal interactive browsing. Access may be revoked for behaviour like this.

Content

The research, explanatory and technical content on this site describes an ongoing project as accurately as the project can manage; it may be revised as the work continues.

Liability

The site and any Lab tools are provided as they are. Reasonable care is taken to keep the service available and secure, but no guarantee is made that it will be available without interruption.
