World history

What the world running right now has actually recorded. Every line on this page is read from the simulation's own authoritative state or from its event log. Nothing here is written in advance, narrated, or filled in when a section would otherwise be empty.

Have they met?

Two founder populations began on separate landmasses. Every organism carries the island its founding ancestor came from, permanently, as inherited state. Contact is the direct question of whether an organism descended from one has ever encountered one descended from the other.

Current answer, read from live state

They have made contact. This has happened at least once in this world's history.

Background, and every previous run's count: RN-004, two islands, zero crossings.

Living lineages

A lineage is founded when an offspring's genome has drifted more than 0.1 in root-mean-square distance from the founding genome of its parent's lineage. It is a bookkeeping rule with one threshold, not a speciation event. How that works.

The largest living lineages. The living count and share come from the most recent telemetry sample, while the West and East split is counted live from the population as it stands, so the two can differ by a few organisms between samples. Both numbers are real; they are simply read at slightly different moments.

Recorded events

These are detected by the simulation's own telemetry as they happen, from measured quantities, and each message states only what was measured. None of them names an actor or assigns a cause.

Most recent first. The feed is bounded: old events age out rather than accumulating forever.

The state hash is the whole authoritative state reduced to one digest. Two runs of the same seed agree if and only if their hashes agree at every tick, which is what makes this world's history replayable rather than merely recorded. How and why.
